Das Ziel einer guten Ernährung für Hunde und Katzen ist, den Tieren wieder jene Nahrung, die sie in ihrer ursprünglichen Lebensumgebung gewohnt waren, anzubieten. 

Die Rezepturen des Futters sollten sich in ihrer Zusammensetzung maximal der ursprünglichen „Beute" von Hunden und Katzen annähern und somit alle Nahrungsmittel und Mineralstoffe, die das Tier benötigt, enthalten.
Die Mischung aus Fleisch mit Gemüse oder anderen Beilagen sollten an den Bedarf der Tiere angepasst werden.
Mit der Umstellung auf eine artgerechte Ernährung zeigt sich in der Regel bereits nach zwei bis drei Wochen eine neue Vitalität, einen besseren Stoffwechsel und eine höhere Leistungsfähigkeit.

Gesund ernährte Tiere haben eine deutlich höhere Lebensqualität und auch eine deutlich höhere Lebenserwartung.
